Le MA9000 est le plus gros des intégrés de la marque et succède au MA8000. Comme le MA8900, il intègre des circuits améliorés de nouvelle génération, notamment sur le processeur de contrôle et le circuit de la sortie casque, avec des composants de meilleure qualité. Le dessin des dissipateurs thermiques latéraux a également été modifié.

Autre nouveauté : le dac interne accepte maintenant 6 entrées (2 optiques, 2 coaxiales, 1 USB, 1 Din propriétaire) et est sous la forme d'un module démontable appelé DA1, susceptible d'évoluer par la suite. Ce module DA1 utilise une puce de conversion 8 canaux fonctionnant en Quad Balanced et décode tous les formats PCM jusqu'au 32 bits / 384 KHz et DSD256.

Lui-aussi équipé des transformateurs de sortie, il délivre 2x300w et pourra donc alimenter n'importe quelles enceintes. Comme tous les intégrés de McIntosh, il propose également 2 entrées Phono (MM/MC) de grande qualité.
